Texas seems to be more punitive than many states, but I hope this guy gets a break.

He's been in solitary for 27 years - and not even for a murder.

A Plea for Help After a Quarter-Century in a 'Penal Tomb'
Dennis Hope has spent 27 years in solitary confinement in a Texas prison, in a cell that is 9 feet long and 6 feet wide — smaller than a compact parking space.
“It’s three steps to the door and then turn around and three steps back,” Hope, 53, wrote in a recent letter to his lawyers.

The guy committed 6 or 8 serious felonies that we know of........... I'm not sure what the rationale is for keeping the guy in solitary but I'll not be worrying about it either.

Most of y'all know I usually fall hard right on issues, and it aggravates my senses to read he attacked and threatened an 83 year old with a knife when he escaped prison. But, this is cruel and uncalled for and without any justification. At this point it is psychological torture. Leave him in max security if you must but total isolation is wrong !

Agreed, but if he poses a threat to fellow inmates or guards, then back to the “cooler” he goes.

For whatever reason,
mental punishment is acceptable in our society
I guess, because nobody can see the scars

American television is a prime example of that.

Of course if that criminal should be shanked while in the general prison population, no tears would be shed by me.

Sure. But I also believe that the punishment should fit the crime, and there are people doing less time for murder.
