Oh lordy, the talk of grits and blackeyed peas and fried porkchops and all else got me to thinking...

OK. What would be your last meal? Keep in mind you are representing the Great State of TEXAS on your way out...LOL

But seriously, rules are ONE meat or fish, three veggies, a salad, bread, a drink, and condiments are unlimited.

Since I started it, I will go first:

Fried catfish, black-eyed peas, fried okra, mashed 'taters with chicken leavin' gravy. Homemade cornbread OOOZING with REAL butter. Green leaf lettuce salad drippin oil and vinegar...and cold sliced salted tomatoes. Sweet milk to drink (only a true Texan/Southerner of the old school knows what "sweet milk" means! LOL)

Y'all...?

Default Hard Choice, Huh?

Gee, TexasReb, this one's going to be tough. But after much thought, I'll give you what stands out among all the rest in my list of favorites. My last meal would be Texas barbecue. Let's see, brisket, pork ribs, sausage (Central Texas-style), pinto beans, and potato salad.

Um.... two plates worth!

Sorry, but if it's my last meal on Earth, I don't want THREE veggies and I DO want dessert!

So, I'd have a big ole BBQ ribeye, lobster with drawn butter, a baked potato with butter and sour cream, a garden salad with ranch dressing, an extra large iced tea, and a large serving of Rudy's peach cobbler.

Mine would be Texas bbq brisket, fried okra, pinto beans, garden salad, southern-style potato salad, turnip greens, sweet tea, cornbread and peach cobbler.

Whoops! Forgot something, folks. I've got to wash all that down with two eight-ounce bottles of Dublin Dr. Pepper!!

Boy, I gotta tell ya, I think I'm right there with you on that. I'd pile on some delicious gulf shrimp too, all over that garden salad!

Well I grew up drinking my milk with sugar. Is that what you're talking about?

Default The sweet milk I had as a kid all the time was

fresh whole milk from the cow, pretty much from the local farm. Since we lived in the city we got it when someone (relative) came for a visit from the country. IS this the type of sweet milk you are talking about?
