Has anyone tried the Slaton Bakery in Slaton (near Lubbock)?? I've heard some pretty good things about it, but never tried it.

I've been told there is a place in Tyler called Village Bakery....but I've read mixed reviews and they are expensive...so until I get a chance to try some of their stuff I won't be able to make a judgement. IF you live in Tyler...I would like a place to buy good breads....rye, sourdough....etc...etc

We always stop at the Czech Stop in West, love that place. The Red Oven Bakery in Arlington used to have the best red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing, but haven't been there in years, anyone know if it's still there? It was on Bowen Road. Sweet Imaginations in Burleson has the best carrot cake.

They've also got a Czech bakery in Ennis. The location's just right next to downtown. I stopped there many years ago, but I don't remember the name. They have good kolaches.

It is great. I have been there only once, but the stuff we purchased was excellent--one of the best bakeries I have ever been in.

Mary of Puddin' Hill in the edge of Greenville is outta this world! They ship fruitcakes all over the world just like Collin Street Bakery, but they also make many other wonderful baked goods. The Horton family has operated it for decades.

Don't forget, gang. We've got our poll here where you can cast your vote on what you buy the most at bakeries. Surprisingly, no votes for cookies at this writing. Interesting.

I saw something in Texas Monthly a few years ago, and there was this one mom-and-pop place in Round Top that specialized in different kinds of pie. One flavor that was mentioned was strawberry rhubarb. I'm not sure if it's a bakery, but the place is in Round Top. Anyone know?

Ooooh, as many years as I've lived in Arlington, how do I not know about this Red Oven Bakery? I'm gonna have to check it out. Hopefully, it's still there.

I bought a box of cookies from Celebrity Bakery in Rockwall yesterday. YUM!!! Trying to just pick 1 dozen is HARD! Let alone the piece of cake I had for desert. Celebrity has many locations in the Dallas area. Good thing there is not one in Garland in the Firewheel area - I'd have to force myself to walk to it in order to burn SOME calories

Czech Stop in West for Kolaches is a MUST!!!!!!!!

Sweet Temptations - ST Cafe in Dallas is YUMMY!!! Cakes and pies and cookies and petit fours. I'm gaining weight just THINKING about this stuff. Their Rock Cake is a legend in Dallas.

The problem w/ the poll is you can only pick one. There is no way I can pick just one favorite.
