Default Transferring my Sallie Mae job in Texas from Indiana.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew some nice areas close to Killeen to move to. We have a very large family of 8 and I would prefer somewhere that is family oriented. I am a NYker and have seen my share of enough of crime and drugs and violence. I have done research, and have heard Killeen is not a good place to live. We want to rent at first then eventually buy a home. The most important things for our move would be schools, special education or special needs services, commute to work and a big house with a large yard and a good medical center for my special needs children. I am considering relocating next year, so I do have some ample time to visit and learn the areas there. Thanks in advance for all of your comments and suggestions.

Welcome to Texas.....I hope it's a good move for your family.

Two excellent medical facilities for your special needs kiddo's......google them and look over what they offer - both are wonderful!

*Scottish Rite Hospital is in South Dallas (maybe an hour away)

*Scott and White Hospital is in Temple (about 30 min. away)

My husband & I are both originally from Indiana, so the title caught my eye, LOL.
Are you in Indianapolis area now? I sure do not miss the crazy weather up there!
personally- I preferred the lampasas schools for my kids. I didn't want to live "in town" so we were about 11 miles from Lamapas in town called Kempner, population 1004. It's about 13 miles from Killeen, definetly a prettier area, less crowded- and you can get to shopping in Georgetown/Austin/Round Rock/San Marcos and etc fairly quick.
Housing is very reasonable also. We currently have our house for sale, but I am not sure it will be large enough for a family of 8. Please feel free to email me with any questions I can help with. We were stationed a little farther south in the state- I miss parts of central Texas a lot- but I also am enjoying the beaches down here , LOL
