I agree. There are many differences between Amarillo and Lubbock, and the differences are even further apart between Amarillo and Odessa/Midland.

Lumping Amarillo and Lubbock together simply because of closeness on a map really shows a lack of understanding in the real world differences of the two.

Amarillo and Lubbock are very different IMO.

They are different in that Amarillo seems to be more diversified economically than Lubbock, which is from what I can tell TTU/medical/ag. Maybe a little oil field (Levelland has oil field). Amarillo lacks a large university within the city itself, though WTAMU is nearby. But, they are far more similar to each other than to other cities in the state, IMHO.
