Move to Vidor if you want to be in an all-white town. Just don't expect to find a full set of teeth or an IQ above 15.

The last three lines are baseless claims with no factual evidence.

Stay away from Vidor, Belle, as the crime rate looks rather hefty. I think jread was just kidding anyway.

That seems like THE place where bellestaroftexas and noljos would belong and feel right at home.
Just kidding!

I'm curious as to why you would choose to remain in a "border state" at all then???
Move to MN or WI and you'll find no end of Nordic-styled partners. Excellent XC skiing as well!
Cheers!

um first of all......did you ever think that there might be a REASON?
i am from North Texas, i thought all of Texas was pretty much the same, except South maybe just warmer. my interview/visit here was too brief to really see everything. i have a CONTRACT. yes i can get out of it, if i pay my way out. i can choose to do that, yes. is it miserable here? NO. it's still Texas and being in South Texas or anywhere in Texas is better than being in any other state....so am i going to stay my contract out? possibly. like i said, it aint bad..the people are nice. the weather is great. i can always take road trips. i aint far from San Antonio. i am making ALOT of money down here..and i can make enough money in 2 years to buy a big ole ranch in the Panhandle in 2 years. is it worth it to stay for that? probably.

and BY THE WAY, why is it that when i am desiring to live the rest of my years in a place where i am surrounded by other caucasians, i am labeled a racist, but when black folks congregate to the same neighborhoods, churches, civic activities, they are not?
come on yall....give me a break.
p.s. like i already said, if i was married, this wouldnt be so much of an issue, but at my age, i would really like to remarry. who wants to grow old alone? come on!!! i dont have kids, i dont have family. my dogs cant take care of me when i am 60 or something?!!!!

oh and how much ya wanna bet that alot of the almost 300 views have been from folks who secretly want to know the answer to the question i am asking? they just dont want to admit it for fear of being called a racist.

I'm sorry, bellestaroftexas. I know people stay for reasons. I'm still in Texas for a reason too; my grown children won't move and even though they're grown, I don't know if I can stand moving about 1,000 miles from them as I'm looking into the mountains of SW Virginia.
They want to stay here as well and even though I don't, I understand how many people love this state and can deal with things with which I have trouble. For the most part, things are great, but I'd love to live out my sunset years elsewhere.
Regarding the race thing....I feel exactly the same way you do. I'm blonde and blue-eyed too, but probably much older and to be perfectly honest with you, I'm certain the entire state will eventually turn into a state with a white minority. If that makes me racist, so be it. But those who know me know I'm not. I work with many blacks and Mexicans and they seem to be more racist than most whites I know.
I have a friend in GA and when he and I spoke on the phone last night, he said even north of Atlanta where he lives is becoming quite Hispanic and the blacks there are taken aback by it all.
Good luck finding your slice of Heaven; I'm still searching for mine.
P.S. I'm pushing 60 and my dogs do really well in keeping me on the straight and narrow. And unless one is ill, even 80 isn't old.
