NO. it's still Texas and being in South Texas or anywhere in Texas is better than being in any other state....so am i going to stay my contract out? possibly. like i said, it aint bad..the people are nice. the weather is great. i can always take road trips. i aint far from San Antonio. i am making ALOT of money down here..and i can make enough money in 2 years to buy a big ole ranch in the Panhandle in 2 years. is it worth it to stay for that? probably.

I really don't know why you're getting snippy with plaidmom, she's just trying to help. BTW, I don't know if you were drunk last night, but please reread your first post and tell me you're not embarrassed.

amjb-thanks for the kind message. i am thankful for being in Texas, don't get me wrong. i was a minority in Georgia and found that the blacks discriminated against whites-still blaming us for the slavery days. it was really unpleasant. here in Texas, i may be a minority but the hispanics are very pleasant, friendly, and appreciative of everything. i have no problem with them.
yeah, my dogs keep me on the straight and narrow too! dont know what i would do without them!

Yep, we'll always be blamed for the slavery days. We had a high school principal in the district where I work who made if clear to all who would listen that her ancestors were slaves on a plantation. It got old really fast.

Moderator cut: off topic
1) age doesnt mean anything....a woman who is 40 can be just as hot as she was at 20 thanks to plastic surgery and botox, or just plain good genes
2) with reference to non-caucasians...doubt many non-caucasians are cowboy/rancher/cattleman types

I agree, but so many of them see it differently. I'm one of the Nordics and my dad didn't come over to America until 1927.
It is kind of like when I visited Fort Worth as a teenager (lived in CA at the time), I was seeing a boy and when his mom found out I was of German ancestry, she wouldn't let him see me anymore. I guess she thought I was one of Hitler's descendants.
And then of course, after moving to Texas, we were referred to as the Yankees. Hmmm! Last I heard, CA wasn't a Yankee state. Oh, me!!

Heya bellestar, perhaps this thread wouldn't have sunk to such a level if you had entitled it "Where to Find Tall Blonde
Quote:

cowboy/rancher/cattleman types

In Texas" instead.
I think people got kind of hung-up on the whole caucasian thang.
Of course, we all have reasons for any of the decisions we make in life. Life is about choices.
It sounds like you have yours made here:

But in another post you lament:

but at my age, i would really like to remarry. who wants to grow old alone?

I guess you'll need to do the balance-sheet thing and weigh the pros and cons of staying (good $$$, but little social life/dating) vs. relocating.
As far as having a certain "type" in mind, I don't see anything racist about that at all. Just read any "personals" site. People get pretty darn specific (height, weight, hair color, boob size, lol).
It's easy to say that in this day and age (the internet and matchdotcom et al) that location no longer matters. I'm not so sure that's true.
I found myself living in Corpus Christi as a young (and I do mean young) widow and it just wasn't working for me at all. All of the single men I met were old enough to be my grandfather (ok, now I'm going to be labled an age-ist lol). I moved to back to Austin and my social life improved dramatically (luckily my "type" is the brainy nerdy type..and Austin's crawling with em!).
If you are willing to consider states other than TX, I'd add CO, ID, WY and MT to your list. Sounds like you don't mind cold and there should be tall handsome ranchers in those states too!
Good luck with the hunt!

Well, I for one looking and reading the thread. I don't think that if you were trying to find a mate that Kingsville would have been the place for you no matter where in Texas it is. Should have asked about the singles in Kingsville and it ani't much! I think that if you can find a good man no matter what type you should take them these days.LOL
