I get so tired of hearing people make excuses, "I'M not prejudiced..why, I WORK with a ____lady/man." Yes, so, when did you last HAVE THEM OVER TO YOUR HOUSE?"

That would mean more, something entirely different, something real.

So true. If your children ask where they're from, the comment most likely will be "Wes (wees) from the Hood." I hear this every day as I work in a school where this talk is rampant although the whites tie in population % with the Mexicans. The talkers of which we are describing only make up 20% at my school, but it seems so much like more and for some reason, they can't speak differently than VERY loudly. It drives me nuts. I'm forever asking they to speak correctly and the reply is, "Dis how wes (wees) talk."

I just wonder how I've survived living among them 40+ years.
