I would have to say look in Collin County if you are in the Dallas area. There are some great small towns (huge size ranges) with wondeful schools and close to the city. There are little towns that are growing at nice rates, so keep in mind where you will be in a few years. For ex: Murphy is a nice place and is showing a nice growth both commercial and residential. Good luck

You can live near any metropolitan area in the state of Texas and still enjoy the comfort of a smaller town, with big-city amenities that are within a reasonably close distance. There is nothing wrong with the outskirts of an area and I encourage you to look those places over. I should forewarn you on this, though: Texas is a growing state, and the outskirts you see today will probably become large suburbs in a few years' time.

I'm just glad to have you folks in Texas!

SW of Ft. Worth: I-20 and W on Hwy. 377 corridor offers a number of small towns yet easy access to FW. Might consider Stephenville with a population of 10,000, good schools with big hometown "sports" pride and support; major hospital, Tarleton State University, "Cowboy Capital of the World" (one of them anyway!), affordable homes and land for horses, pets, 4-H, peace and quiet. Along the same corridor with more shopping, major retailers, Lake Granbury and a little "bigger" feel yet closer to FW is Granbury. Between the two cities you'll find a number of very small towns and some wide open spaces. I live in Hico, just South of Stephenville, and love it. Moderator cut: advertising

I am moving to Houston in May and not happy about it! Stay away from Houston is right. It's huge and over populated. Has some of the world's worse drivers and the traffic is terrible! My fiances job is there, so we were moving there for a few years and I am hoping he gets transfered ASAP! I did a trial run this summer and I saw more crime than I have ever seen in my life (and I am from NY) Austin is gorgeous!
