Bonham Veterans hospital
Hello, I've been trying to find a job at the Veterans hospital in Bonham , I currently am working at the veterans hospital in Albuquerque, NM as a health technician, but will be moving to Celeste, TX in the fall. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions since the recruiter has been very unhelpful (i.e> "look on usajobs.com) , yeah did that, but I am already an employee at a VA and have the right to transfer. I am also a Veteran (8yrs as a medic/emt in the AF) so will receive vet preferance. If anyone has any ideas or people they could recommend me to it would be greatly appreciated. I'll be home (Celeste, TX) at end of June for a week so if anyone could direct me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Wish I still knew people there I could refer you to....it's a lot different place than it used to be. The staff seems much smaller than it used to....they seem to bus most the patients back and forth to Dallas VA for services that require anythng other than just nursing home type care any more.
You might try calling the Veterans Service Officer there (903)583-6390 (that's a Bonham number) or (800) 924-8387, ext. 36390 and see if they can direct you to the proper person or give you some insight as to the current hiring situation there.
Are you familiar with the Clyde Cosper Texas Veteran's Home they have built in Bonham....one of only four in the state, I believe. Very nice place, right next door to the VA....160 beds, basically nursing home/assisted living, I believe.
Celeste is a nice little town....hope things work out well for you back home.

The recruiter is correct. (He is actually an old friend of mine!) There has to be an open position on USAJobs for you to transfer into. Bonham is little more than a clinic, and people don't leave there very often.

The Red River Regional Hospital just changed hands in Bonham and they are supposedly going to be adding to their staff.
Also, Commerce has just opened a large new wing on their hospital and I'm sure they'll be hiring.

Grade school
Would a smart kid in the 1st grade have much of a chance to learn if he speaks very, very limited English but is fluent in Spanish?

Since you are a first-time poster, I am assuming you did not mean this to be attached to a discussion regarding VA hospital jobs? If you want to discuss your topic, you may start a new thread. (BTW...the answer to you question is 'yes.')
