Just in case you thought the whole Texas power grid fiasco was over, Abbott and ERCOT are at it again.

Fellow Texans, how worried are you about losing power?

That's got to be both inconvenient and very annoying to a lot of Texans. I recently read that an unusually strong and persistent La Niña in the Eastern Pacific is driving this extremely dry and hot weather.

Power plants do have to go down for maintenance some times. Better during the weekend than the weekday when demand is higher. ERCOT has nothing to do with Abbott. ERCOT has been around since the 70’s and Texas went deregulated in 95. Not to say I agree with such but changing governors isn’t going to change our situation with ERCOT. Abbott in no way oversees ERCOT nor does he have any control over their operations.

Power conservation during the warmer months in Texas is nothing new either. Our loads are typically higher during the summer and we haven’t added as much capacity to the grid as we have people to the state.

How likely is it that people lose power over the weekend?

Not very likely.

If Texas wants to hang on to its third-world privatized electrical grid, then they need to stop trying to get the feds to bail them out when the pile of crap fails. Join the interconnect, or fix it yourselves.

It's half past 4, and so far, there hasn't even been a hint that my house is about to lose power.

I think my family is going to be OK, at least for today.

ERCOT is under the oversight authority of the Republican-controlled state legislature, so elected Republicans are responsible if Texas consistently fails to meet its power needs regardless of the cause.

Solving this problem should be a priority for Texas Republicans, because without electricity it's hard to collect bounties from women seeking abortions, bring abuse charges against parents of transgender children, or scour school libraries for CRT.

Priorities!

Time to turn those coal and Natural Gas fired power plants back on. Shame on those left wing fake environmentalists that want to shut down reliable powerplants and not adequately replace them. Wind and Solar are not particularly environmentally friendly even if they could do the job.
