Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info provided. I just received the Deed today and it's not Rancho Verde. It's Vista Heights. Ok the question I have is does any one know of a surveyor in area and how I can get in contact with one.

Thanks
Liz

What section (property description) is your property? Mine is Vista Heights also, but it depends on your section number as to where it is located. If you have the GPS readings you can find on Google Earth also. Regarding a surveyor, Brie may know of a competent one, but I get the Dell City paper, and there is one who has an ad listed in it. I can check out and get back with you...am at work now. I will be out there in a month or two, and if I have the GPS readings I can take a picture of your property and send to you...unless it is too remote. Some roads turn into trails pretty quick, and I might not want to take my vehicle there. I have to depend on it to get me to Dell City and back home.

The place that you saw is NOT my place. What you saw was on the NORTH side of 62-180, right up against the road. He is constantly selling stuff, from vehicles, to aircraft, to construction equipment. Most of us in the area DON'T get along with the guy, Chico says that the guy swindled him when he bought the land his hanger/home is on from Chico. The guy comes from the same area in Florida the Jerry Wallace comes from, and has the same personality.
My place is on the SOUTH side of 62-180, about 2 miles EAST of that place, and 3/4 of a mile SOUTH of 62-180.
Give me a call when you are ready to come out, my cell number is:
(915) 449-1016. Anyone else who wants to talk to me is also welcome to call, but understand that the coverage out here is VERY spotty, so there is a good chance that I may not get your call. I have voicemail, so leave me a short message with your phone number, and I WILL get back to you. Brie

Yeah I got maps and everything. I am needing a surveyor to obtain the other points of the property. The 12.75 acres I bought, was bought out of a 51 acre parcel. I have a legal description and GPS for the 51 acre parcel and I have one corner, but would like the GPS for all four plus I would like to divide the 12.75 into 5 - 2 acre parcels and one 2.75 ace parcel.

Default Surveyor

I agree with Bob, I'm sorry for not writing much this month, but I have a good friend who is recovering from having a kidney removed at the VAMC in Albequerque, and I am just recovering from a shoulder ailment that rendered my right arm all but useless for the better part of this month. The shoulder has made remarkible progress since last week when I was seen by the VA Medical Clinic in El Paso, and I should be back to my old self by Christmas. Brie

Thanks CykoBob appreciate it. One more question for you. What roughly would it cost to have a well drilled and installed? How available is the water in that area? What roughly would it cost to put in a holding tank for water?

Liz

Well, these are some of my own questions. Brie said she had water brought in by truck from El Paso. I don't remember the cost, but it is in her earlier posts. It sounded reasonable when I read it. I was raised with catchment (rain water being funneled into a tank from gutters). Not a lot of rain in West Texas, but you might get some water that way from your structure(s) and have water hauled in other times/most of the time. Wells are not cheap. I was told by a Dell City local, that where my property was located water was about 800 feet down, but most places the water was deeper. Remember, this was simply a discussion...not sure how accurate the comment actually is. My property is not far off the valley with irrigated fields. Just a wild guess...an installed well with pump and casing might cost $10-14K. Are you going to run the pump with electricity or with an engine...just something to consider? Remember, you need electricity. Again referencing Brie's posts, she uses a solar/windtricity combination I believe. There are other ways too...generators, storage batteries, etc, but they are not quite as green. Rio Grande Electric (1-800-460-0683) is the local coop, so you might want to discuss with them the possibility of bringing electricity to your property. A septic system I am guessing $4-6K...

Not sure how helpful all this is, mostly guestimates and thoughts on my part. I suppose it also depends on how permanent you want to be in the area as to what kind of utilities and the expenditures you want to put out to get them. This might seem like a big investment for a piece of property you probably paid less for than the cost of obtaining those utilities, but it depends on where you want to live and how you want to live. Hope this helps as you make those dreams come true...Bob

Default Water Costs

BOB, LIZ,
My water costs me 135 dollars for 2,200 gallons, delivered to my site. It is city water, so it does not grow alge in my 3,000 gallon tank.
A well will cost you 15 to 20 THOUSAND dollars to drill, and there no guarentees that it will strike water. Dry hole? Pay for a new one to be drilled.
NO THANKS, I'll have my water delivered. Brie
