Oh hey I hear ya.. I mean Wallace Town.. that out there.. Dell City is way out there, and not what I was referring too. Yeah I had a nice tract of land in Chaparral NM. But the place just kept growing and growing and now its a pretty good size community out there. Many of the people sold their land and then moved further out to places like what you have now. Yeah I dream of one day having a nice plot of land near a large body of water where I can gaze out over yonder and just relax.. with no one to bother me or the misses. =)

I also have land in sierra vista estates. It is located south of the cafe on the farm road that goes to the pumping station. My nephew and me own lots 28 and 29. We are planning on moving there the first part of the year. We will probaly set up up in trailers and then build. I need to know what kind of permits we need. We will have water trucked in. Where do I go to get electricity hooked up. There is power, gas and phone running along the front side of the property. We intend to fence in 18 acres with barbed wire, are there any restrictions on the wire? I know this is a lot of questions, but We have no idea where to start. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Bob

I really enjoy getting back to this thread every now and then. I grew up 35 years ago on the ranch that was just west of the cafe on both sides of 62/180 and along the west side of FM2317. It was originally about 24,000 acres, and I'm sure it's been split many times by now. Our neighbor to the south was the Williams Ranch. Does anyone know if Jay Williams is still around?
The photos on this thread are great! Brings back lots of memories of driving cattle for what seems like days on end in the middle of summer... so hot that it was tough to get the cattle moving! I have trouble convincing my wife that I was once a cowboy! Some beautiful but lonely country... good luck living on it!

It has been awhile since I have posted, but I like what Brie says above. I like my little piece of property (not on 62/180) and its somewhat remote location that allows me a bit of solitude when I am there...and a great view of the Guadalupes! I will just be happy when I can spend more time on it. Like Brie, I don't mind a few like-minded neighbors---with plenty of elbow room! I enjoy everyone's comments and perspectives. Another military retiree...Doc/Bob

Cornudas, Texas
There are a few local folks from El Paso and New Mexico working on a Cornudas plan. Green energy is part of it. It is not selling land or condos. It is about putting together a small rural Community Township which offers some amenities. Things like a place to have coffee, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, free internet service, shop for staple items, post office, possibly Volunteer Fire and Rescue, community center, ect. Include a few events like the ones listed at www.cornudastx.com Is that so bad to consider for the area.

I'm not worried about those type of services coming into the area. I'm only concerned with who it is that brings them in.

Seth.. there are many options.. when I lived out in Boise ID, we had a oil tank in the basement.. Heating oil in that region could be quite costly, so most of the time we never got any. We had a fire place and would use it, have extra blankets on the bed or/and a heat pad under the sheets at the foot of the bed. Some people have wood burning stoves and those give off a great amount of heat. You can also use space heaters.. I know a few people who have solar panels and use radiant heat. Staying warm is not that hard to do.. staying cool on the other hand.. =)

Sara and Carlos
Carlos had a minor work accident a couple weeks ago but is now doing fine. They moved into May's big trailor in back. As for Dell telephone, I have their dsl here and wouldn't switch to anything else. Dell City ISD owns 104 acres of land just to the west of the rock house that might be bought for a decent price. Anyone still looking for land needs to check out Antelope Acres. 10 acres with phone and electric to your lot, community well, nice price. Brie, Fred is having someone come in next week to grade the roads and Mike Stephen thought you should know in case you wanted your runway graded while the guy is out here.
