Well, the wasted space of which you speak is mostly unspoiled land, something many of us appreciate over cement, polluted air, vehicles galore, and high-rise buildings.  And you're wanting to live in / near Eagle Pass? Okay, whatever.

AMEN! If the rural landscape and small hamlet of Crawford is a waste of space,then, heck, most of Texas is a "waste of space"! this is the beauty of Texas-that there is so much wide open range!!
heck, even the landscape of South Texas, i thought was beautiful in its own way-i just didnt like the culture or social aspect of the area!
i see beauty in the vast plains of West Texas and so many other areas of Texas.........
