Default valley fishing

I should mention a hot spot for fishing in donna, its donna lake, a holding lake system for farming. If you go down south valley view road off of us 83 not the expressway you will find the lake on both sides of the road and a lot of people fish there, the pump house can be seen form the road. There are signs that say not to keep the fish because of contamination but like everything else use your own judgement a lot of people eat em as i do, bad thing is no shade so be prepared for that. cut bait is what i use or liver, but most there use shrimp which they sell at the little gas station at us 83 and valley view road intersection. good luck and let me know how you did. I have a buddy down there right now at the norms farmers market in weslaco just off westgate so stop by and say hey for me at the flea market shed next to the market, he would sure enjoy the company, his name is wilburn and he needs a buddy to to talk to since im in illinois right now and will be back down there soon i hope.

Valleyguy, I live a mile from Donna Lake on Valley view rd. I have been there a dozen or more times using cut shad, shrimp, and livers and have never even gotten a bite. I have seen people there most of the time and haven't seen a single fish caught there!!

I'll give that other spot a go and I'll let you know how I did!!

Default say hi to wilburn

your right and my name is michael coleman he will know the rest of the story.
and about donna lake, your right most of the time, but when they hit they hit big time, mostley at night. If you have noticed the resident fishing people have some strange ways to catfish or at least it seems so to me. I cant figure why they set their lines or why they use the hook and weight set ups they do but i keep my mouth shut. I use river set ups as i am used to fishing on the mississippi and big muddy here in illinois and seems that most down there are bottom fishers and since the cats there act as preditor fish they like to hit floating bait and are not so much bottom feeders. just a little something i have noticed different about south texas. also worms have been very good bait for me there, i always take some with me when i go down.

Gave the spot a try today. Got one small channel and a drum. Was getting slot of bites but I think my hooks were too big. Will pick up some smaller hooks for next Saturday!!

On the way back, stopped and said hi to Wilburn.

Default Freshwater Fishing

Hey guys,

My name is Mario, I'm from Mercedes. I was wondering if anyone knew anythng about the La Feria Reservior? Maybe get some more info
on it.

The "Mercedes" canals that ave being talked about are actually in the small town called Relampago on 281 aka "Military Highway." I've heard you can catch some catfish but further away from the bridge north or south.

My first post!!! Woo

There is some good fishing in the mercedes area, just go south on florida st. past the high school till u reach a place the locals call "the waterfalls". You can't miss it, just look to the west and you'll see...
