Mr. Fish is on a distinguished road
Hello all,
I've been trying out a few different places that used to be "good" fishing spots years back and alot of places have been closed off to the public or have been developed. Los Fresnos used to offer some great fishing back when I was a kid. Indian Lake used to be clear and hold schools of gar, largemouth and white bass. Everything has seemed to changed in the 12 years I've been gone. Lately I've tried fishing the Reservoir No. 1 in Los Indios. Caught small channel cats, but nothing else. I've also fished the Willacy Canal, which feeds Delta Lake in the Santa Rosa area and again, small channel cats. I heard La Joya Lake is great, but you have to have a membership to fish there. Falcon Lake, which is not part of the valley, is great but you need to have a boat. I've had a lot of luck fishing the irrigation canals that come from the La Feria Reservoir that run behind my house. I caught a 24" and an 18" Channel cat on chicken livers, along with some 14" and 12" inchers. If anyone knows of some solid spots, please let me know. Thanks, Mr. Fish
