They didn't release any info this morning. The local news had the Governor on this morning and he said he was told the building is salvageable so they will renovate it.

I'm glad that they will renovate it. I would not want our state to have a McGovernor's Mansion.

Apparently, a lot of the historical items were still out of the building due to the recent renovation, so they were mostly spared. They said they were looking for a 'person of interest' from the security camera footage.

As a Southern Californian who did not choose to move here, I agree that was uncalled for.

And some wonder why people who've moved here don't feel welcome.

I certainly hope the reasoning behind the arsen wasn't politically motivated, because if so (and I do realize that's probably the case) what has our country come to? I don't like you because you have different ideals than me, so I'm going to burn down your home? Stop and think a moment. Any type of arsen is bad enough. A home, someone else's memories, even lives could be lost. But to set fire to the governer's mansion? Who would even think to do something so wrong? A person who feels his/her entitlement means more than one of the country's more historical significances. It's criminal in a way that's threatening our country's future.

Some of us Southern Californians did not move here by choice. I am one of them, forced here by my dad's stupid company when I was a pre-teen. And though I never felt welcome here, politically and culturally, I'd never do something stupid like that arsonist did. I'm just going to move to Missouri very soon with no regrets.

Oh, gosh. I hope you didn't read my post wrong. I meant that the comment made is very unfair and unwelcoming. Sorry for the confusion.

When my now-best friend moved from NJ to IN our sophomore year of HS, she hated IN. I can totally understand her feelings now. It's just so different than where she is from. I didn't take offense to it then, and I certainly don't now. There is a reason most people love their state, and it's something I think people like the person who originally wrote that don't understand. I'm with you, I'm glad to be moving back to IN, but as some people on this board have read my story, it's because of people like the poster of that mean comment.

Missouri is nice. What part? It's a big state and has a lot of natural beauty.

I'm sorry I misunderstood your post. It just sounded so much like comments I've heard from Texans elsewhere, which were not very nice-sounding. I will be headed to the Kansas City area soon. I've visited there before and had a great time. I think it will be a nice place to live, as MO is probably the only other state that is doing well economically.
