Default Temporarily moving to San Angelo area

My husband and I will be moving to San Angelo, TX for a short time starting in mid to late August and leaving in late December, while he takes classes at Goodfellow AFB. I was wondering if any of you could recommend places to check into renting? We're really looking for something small (1 bedroom or studio is fine), pets allowed (2 neutered declawed kitties), we're willing to go as high as $650 for the rent but would obviously prefer less, and within a 15 - 20 minute drive to the base. It would be especially nice, but not necessary, if we could find a place with a washer/dryer in the unit, people used to dealing with the military and tolerable of our short time frame that we'll be there, and possibly one that offers furnished units (probably going to be extra hard to find with the cats). Thank you so much for any help/suggestions you can give!

yall cant stay in the TLF (Temporary Lodging Facility) on base? i know they dont allow pets but heck, surely you can sneak in a cat! why aint the USMC helping with lodging if this is a mandatory TDY?
i would put an ad in Craigs List for San Angelo area, and also on the San Angelo forums (there are some-i think one is connected to the local newspaper-just google it)
what a change from Cherry Point! welcome to Texas! OORAH! SEMPER GUMBY! and SEMPER FI!

We're going to be there for 4 months with 2 cats, we'd prefer not to sneak them into anywhere as it would be horrible to get caught halfway in and be "homeless" for a couple months! It is a mandatory trip for my husband, but not for me and the cats so we have to find our own lodging. Thank you for the tips. I forgot to ask if there's any kind of extended stay hotels or anything of that sort. Apartment is preferred of course, but we'd like to know our options.

ah ok...short unaccompanied TDY tour....okay. yep Craigs List and San Angelo forums may be your best bet.
dont know about extended stay hotels. not real familiar with San Angelo or Goodfellow AFB
but iam sure that somehow you will find accomodations in the friendly town-surely someone will extend some hospitality and be willing to rent a military family l a short term place
good luck!

I have a small (and I mean small) guest house with two rooms & a bath you might be interested in and I live about a mile from the main gate. If you're interested, send me a PM so we can discuss the details.

There are several apartments here in town I can recommend (Emerald Point comes to mind). Problem is I don't know if they will rent them out for that short of period.

I'm retired Navy, and work on Goodfellow... if there's any information you need or arrangements that you need help with, let me know.

Here's a link to the San Angelo Times, I'm sure you can get a perspective if you go to the classfied ads section for real estate:

gosanangelo.com : San Angelo, Texas News, Business, Homes, Jobs, Cars & Information

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. As I have access to any place on the base, I can get information others may not be able to.
