Looks like San Angelo is joining the crowd with cams. Been on that street a few times while stationed there back in 1972. Thanks!

Default need San Angelo general info

Thanks Muhnay.

Tell me about San Angelo. Is it a good place for retirement? Does the city have good medical facilities, reasonable housing costs, good restaurants, cowboys , etc
Thanks!

I don't live there... I have visited the city once.. I was impress by it. I love old buildings, one of the reasons I would drive down to Uvalde TX all the time was the old style of the buildings the town square and a touch of what life was back when things were a bit more simple.. San Angelo had that feeling for me. People are friendly, at least everyone I spoke with. The river areas with parks and walk ways are awesome!

We do have some locals from San Angelo here on the forums and I know as soon as they see you asking I am sure they will tell you what they can.

One other thing San Angelo reminds me of, is El Paso back in the 70's and early 80's.. That is where I grew up is El Paso, and walking around San Angelo, the way the people behaved, and spoke and cared, reminded me of El Paso of old. There is also lots of rejuvenation in San Angelo Downtown. The town looks to be growing too.. I am looking in moving there myself.. even though I am more of a coastal lover, San Angelo has a spark that captured me... so it is some place I am considering of moving.. also because it will be closer to El Paso, if my Mom or Aunt or Uncle ever need me.

If you plan to move there, go check it out.. once you walk the streets, talk with the people.. you'll see.. the place has a magical quality like stepping back in time when things were more simple.

Here is a PDF Magazine of San Angelo.. its very cool.

San Angelo is EXCELLENT for retirement! There are LOTS of other retirees who live in San Angelo. As for medical facilities, the Baptist Memorial hospital is very large, and it is one of the only hospitals in the country that specializes in geriatrics! My father-in-law drives 1.5 hours from Del Rio to see doctors there! The community has lots of activities that retirees enjoy, such as Angelo State Univeristy's athletics and arts programs, and community theatres. There are good museums, and lots of festivals and civic activities. Plus, San Angelo has excellent shopping! (Better than Abilene, IMHO.) The cost of living is low, and the weather is nice (except for the typical hot Texas summers!)

Hiya Christie,

You guys got a good rainstorm yesterday. Do you get plenty of rain like this every year? Do you all have to worry about tornado's? I watched the cam and weather channel as a super red cell went right over you all last night.

How are jobs out there.. does Goodfellow have Civilian Guards on its gates or police on patrol there?
