I always thought Republicans were the fiscal conservatives. Yet, Clinton, a Liberal tax and spend Democrat, reigned in the budget by reaching across the aisle and working with both parties. Bush has been writing hot checks on our national budget ever since he has been in office. It will be many generations before the deficit is taken care of--if ever. And that is just the tip of the iceburg. He has even done things that his own father disapproved of, but that doesn't stop him. He is the "decider," after all.

Differences of opinion. I thought things were going horribly wrong all 8 years. The Democratic house and Senate have been disappointments, but they are working against the threat of veto from Bush on every issue that they consider, and they do not have enough votes to overcome his veto. The problems were there long before the make up of the House and Senate changed 18 months ago.

Then I guess we will agree to disagree then.

I agree. I hope you weren't offended by my response. I try to keep it civil, and I know that I am out of step with most Texans in my political views.

Its all good. I am a bit brash myself, even when I am trying to not be. So I too apologize if I come off in an offensive way.

Mahnay "everything was going good until we elected a Dem Congress" 4000 boys dead?? record budget deficit? If you ever left Texas you'd find people blame us for Bush. His name is met with derision almost anywhere one goes outside the south.

The Dems don't have the votes to do anything - show me one vote where they over-rided a Bush veto . JUST ONE Muhnay! Give us facts instead of BS. The Dems are not even well organized, nor do they agree with each other on many issues.

Having said that I am independent and voted in the GOP primary ( for Ron Paul). Muhney its people like you though who make stereotypes without any facts and rely on rumor instead of research, that both mess up our country and give our state the reputation for being full of ignorant rednecks.

making stereotypes without facts crosses political party lines as does relying on rumor instead of research. That's why some states are known for all their spineless, whiny liberals.

I'm a transplanted Texan currently living in California. I voted for Obama in the primaries and will vote for him in the general election. My parents, who live in SA, will also be voting for Obama. This will be the first time either of them has not voted for a Republican candidate for the presidency.
