Yeah, the I-35 Corridor definitely has the makings of one. Only thing being, DFW is not growing south as fast. Temple/Killeen is growing south more than anything, and Austin is growing north.

I really hope the Texas T-Bone is built connecting the Texas Triangle.

Valley won't be the largest and DFW is already larger than Houston. Valley will be in fourth behind Houston, DFW, and Austin-San Antonio.

Not Valley as in the largest... Valley as in mid size sleeper city metro area.

DFW will hold then. I don't see Houston overtaking DFW. The room for growth in DFW is more than that of Houston metro. But I could be wrong.

I can agree with Valley being in forth. Midland-Odessa and or El Paso or Waco/Temple/Killeen have nothing on the Valley.

Room for growth? I believe they are the same in both metro areas. I mean, the Houston area does have the Sam Houston National Forest to the north that it can't go into, and the Katy Prairie to the west that it can't get into (some areas at least), but that's about it.

Hmm, interesting question....

Anything could happen in a hundred years. The US is becoming overdue for an oil bust. Thankfully Houston will not shut down this time as the economy has diversified, but it will cause a dent for us.

Austin is going to grow pretty rapidly, and could *possibly* surpass San Antonio. But on the other hand, I'm not sure that Austinites will want a big over-grown city like Houston or Dallas... just seems out of character for the region's personality.

The valley will develop into two large "contender metros"... Laredo and whichever city leads the south (looks like Brownsville now, but that's not guaranteed). El Paso is one to always watch out for, b/c the development potential is huge there with CJ right across the border.

B/c the metroplex is two lead entities, I suspect that it will always be larger than the Houston area... that's just the way it works when you have two major cities and super-burbs. But Houston will continue to be the "largest city" and second largest metro in the state. The only way for Dallas to jump ahead for city population would be to annex a few of the mega-burbs.... Plano, Carrollton, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if The Woodlands developed as our second city though.... it's well on it's way right now.
