WOW, more great pictures as always RGV.. nice pants by the way.
You can really see how pretty the city is, and used to be before Mexico took it over.
Great shots of old buildings and homes.. and some sad ones too.. like the junk in that yard.. yikes.. bet the neighbors love them.
I love old buildings like that.. and the setting on the coast like that makes it even more charming. Sometimes I see stuff like that and wish I was Mexican, so I could fit in.. and be content. =(

Vintage
You could say 'vintage' on those old buildings in downtown, and a lot of them should be preserved. And those are very nice old houses (well, except for the one front yard ). My favorite is the St Charles corner shot (fourth from the top), and it's got a good flavor to it. You've still got the magic touch, RGV.

As always, enjoyed your photos. some of the old homes almost have a New Orleans flavor about them. We made a razzo through DT Brownsville a few years back. Traffic was unreal when we went through, I couldn't believe it. Thanks for sharing.

Thx guys.
It's a real shame to see some of these old structures wasting away. And many of the old beautiful store fronts have been covered up with these ugly facades. The building owners are just not interested in restoring them. They are happy with making their money selling discounted products to the shoppers who walk across from Matamoros.

RGV, I'm dissapointed with you--you forgot the beautiful Brownsville museum, the church and several others. Nice pictures, but like the others said, doesn't look like a Texas town.

El Paso is starting to look like this too.. 3rd world. Sad really.
Now I don't mean this to sound like it will but I have to ask..
Is it because Mexicans just don't care? No Civic Pride? No Personal Pride? Or is it because Hispanics in these areas just don't care? Is it over population? Why do beautiful cities turn into this pictured above.. you can see some old great buildings and homes.. You can see the beauty that is still there but more so what was there. I have been in deeper Mexico, and the cities I went too did not look like this.. hell they would make many American cities look trashy.. so why do our border towns get trashed like this?

A buddy of mine was driving me around and showed me the new museum, but he didn't stop.
But, I like the get a feel of the DT areas of cities. I'm from Brownsville originally. I use to go to movies at the Majestic when it was the only show in town. Boy has DT changed.
But, it is very interesting. I can understand what Belle and others see in it. I see it too. It's too bad.
But, remember, this is not the entire city, just the DT area. The northern part of town is new and has most of the same type of shopping malls and centers as other cities. I just find that stuff boring and don't take photos of it.
Adios
