But I will assume that most Texans do not know anything about a few of the things you mentioned. I don't look at those as historic anyway.
Also, outside of Downtown Waco and Baylor, Waco offers the same thing as Killeen and Temple which is nothing but sprawl and sprawl. In fact, all of the major North Central Texas areas offers nothing but that.

Yeah you obviously didn't experience Waco like you think you did, because the majority of Waco's attractions are located outside of Downtown and Baylor. Cameron Park/Zoo/Museums/Water Park/Kiddie Land/Valley Mills/Lake Waco/etc.
Yeah people don't know about these things until they visit Waco and end up being very surprised. You really can't lump Waco with Temple and Killeen because Waco was once poised to become one of Texas's top major cities. Killeen is just a city full of people in the military, the same could even be said for Temple. Waco is an actual real city.
You might shrug off Waco for just being an ordinary sprawling city, but don't disrespect what the city represents and all the history it holds.
Elm Street btw is an Historic street that was popular back in the day among African Americans that use to be full of clubs, resturantes, barbershops, etc. On 4th of July it is jam packed with people clubbing and having fun. Our early fireworks show brings I believe 200k people every year.

Again, nobodoy cares about any of those things except maybe the Cameron Park Zoo. A water park? A kiddie land? Lake Waco which is nothing but a resovoir like nearly all lakes in Texas and is no different from Stillhouse Hollow Lake and Lake Belton? Who cares. How is this any different from any other city? Any city can get this?

I can easily lump Waco in with Killeen and Temple and both Killeen itself which is diversifying it's economy and has been growing faster than Waco for 30 years can also become another decent Texas city. But neither Waco nor Killeen is poised to be major of anything. Killeen is also a city full of teachers (since it's the largest ISD between Austin and Dallas), and government workers. Killeen and Temple as much as a city as Waco.

If I really spout off at the history of Waco is about. I'd be blacklisted. So you don't want me to go there. You really don't think I know of Waco's black history. But I do. So let's not go there. And yes, it is an ordinary sprawling small city.

That's wonderful for Wacoans as you all are probably the ones to know about that. Congratulations. Did you know there is a similar story to that for Killeen from Marlboro Heights? Did you know that the fireworks show that Ft. Hood pulls off every 4th of July bring over 200k.
Sorry but like Killeen and Temple, Waco does not impress me. They are all one in the same. Waco is older, Temple is smaller, Killeen is growing faster.

Nobody cares??? Well why is that you seem to point out the amazing history in bigger cities but quick to ignore it in smaller cities? Waco is miles apart from Killeen, These cities feel nothing and look nothing alike. I don't expect any of these cities to impress you, especially from someone who is impressed by tall buildings, but to the people who do adore Waco do. Your comment bothers me because of the simple fact that you ignore the history and differences between these cities just because you think your more informed about these places when your dead wrong.
Obviously someone cares considering the events and other things we have here with only a metro area of about 200k.

No.
Five reasons why:
Dallas, Ft Worth, D/FW airport, I-20 and Austin.

And obviously someone cares abotu the events ande other things about the Killeen and Temple area since it has over 330k, right? The reason why nobody cares about the history of Waco outside of Central Texas? Because compared to other small cities in the country, it isn't historic. Savannah, Charleston, and Galveston (before Ike) all have history that is much more charming and are much more fun for cities. BTW, I'm not impressed with tall buildings. Killeen and Waco are very much alike. One has been bigger for a longer period of time. But both are sprawl havens that live by the car. Neither of the cities are close to being urban.

No Waco and Killeen aren't alike and feel different from eachother. You just assume they are alike because they both sprawl.

i dont know if you consider FT HOOD area "NORTH" Central Texas, but if you do, and are saying that this area offers nothin but sprawl and sprawl, then you aint seen the small rural country towns around here. Lampasas, Gatesville, The Grove, Flat, Leon Junction, Jonesboro, Turnersville, Hamilton, Ding Dong, Maxdale, Goldwaithe......for example

^^ I was specifically talking abut the immediate Killeen-Ft. Hood area. Not the rural small towns.

How is Killeen "MORE" advanced than Waco?? Killeen IMO is just one big suburb! Waco at least has a major university, diverse economy, several interesting museums, etc.......name one thing that makes Killeen more advanced. And don't say Fort Hood, because if it wasnt for Ft. Hood, Killeen would be no larger than Gatesville. I do agree that Waco is sprawled out, but the city is working to change all of that.
