Smile Hill Country Retirement

we are looking to retire in the Austin/SA area in a few years. We are looking for a city which has plenty of retirees for a social life and great natural beauty. We do not want to spend more than $200K for a 1800 Sq. ft. 3/2 and would like lots of trees and hike areas. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

With those specifications, I'd recommend either Georgetown or Kerrville.

I'll second kerrville. Seems to be exactly what the OP is looking for. Also, I believe Kerrville was recently selected as one of the best places to retire. If you're a veteran, it also has a VA hospital.

Wel looked at all the usual hill country areas before deciding on Marble Falls. IMO its' a bit nicer (smaller too) than Kerrville. Conventient to both Austin and San Antonio.

Kerrville or Boerne are both good choices.

Georgetown..and if you are retired military, Ft Hood is only 35-45 min drive for commissary/px/hospital/clinics etc. and of course, 1.5 hours or less to San Antonio to BAMC.

You might check the Pulte Del Webb Hill Country Retreat in Alamo Ranch area (far West San Antonio). Homes (1500SF and up) start in the $150's. Nice area with lots of areas for walking/hiking and they have a 28,000 SF clubhouse with gym, swimming pool, etc.
