Alatex, i've never toobed the San Marcos River.

My 20 something daughter has & prefers the Comal (or with a big group of 20 somethings...the Guadalupe).

Maybe someone else who has toobed both will post & compare.

Rule of thumb - Guadalupe is the party river and the Comal is the family river.

The Comal has many rules limiting alcohol containers, cooler size, and music. It many places it feels more like a water park than an actual river. This is true even before you float past Schlitterbahn.

The Guadalupe is a little more natural - a little rougher around the edges.

This isn't to say people aren't drinking on the Comal or that kids are going to be traumatized on the Guadalupe, its just a little different.

This website has tips and links to rental places for both rivers as well as coupons to get the tubes cheaper.

But how does the Comal (or Guadalupe) compare with the San Marcos River?

& fwiw to folks who are not familiar with the Comal/Guadalupe....if the Guadalupe is at low levels (due to limited Canyon Lake releases)....the outfitters "bus" the "tubers" from the Guadalupe to the Comal (which has consistent water flows) & the Comal looks like Tuesday night on Mardi Gras & is not very "family friendly".
