Maybe that is why no one has brought up making homemade ice cream...?
LOL!! Grind, nothing! We always had an electric one, even when I was a baby back in the '50s.

It's the expense! Eggs and heavy cream in quantities are $$$!

In fact, I must be one of the rare few who has never done hand-cranked ice cream.

But...I don't believe that I am deprived, LOL!!

We had an electric maker when I was a kid. We would always do family reunions in Gonzolez at a great-aunts house though. With out fail, every year we forgot to bring the maker. I think it was more a planned incident than actually slipping the mind.

Guess who got to crank.

Turning the crank on the old wooden ice cream maker at my grandparents is one of my fondest childhood memories!

Well, I want to be on record as saying I agree totally with what a lot of y'all say -- TWB and Muhnay in particular -- about hand grinding homemade ice-cream being a special favorite in the album of wonderful memories of childhood! Ranks right up there with chasing lightning bugs!

At the same time though? There are certain places in the heart I'd just as soon let somebody else relate their own past experiences, and me listen, while THEY crank.

Meanwhile, I will drink beer and yep, fondly remember right along with 'em...
