Let's put it this way, the police force in Texas particularly Houston and Dallas is down right scary..Talk about good ole boys with wide brimmed hat and an attitude. They look like guys from the WWE that just enjoy bullying normal everyday citizens. People were terrified of the police there. You couldn't drive beyond 10 miles in Texas without seeing a highway patrolman just sitting there waiting to pull someone over; they were everywhere. There were speed traps everywhere. In Texas, they will pull you over for going 9 miles over the speed limit. In California, the police leave everyday citizens alone and target gangs and real violence. And the only speeders they pull over are the guys going 20 over; they don't pull over the soccer mom in the minivan going 11 over the speed limit like you find in Texas. It's a total Gestapo mentality in TX

You know it's gone to far when a school security thinks he has the same power as a policeman. I remember once the security guard tried to get in my face and take my car because we were sitting in the parking lot during lunch. I told him, if he touch me I would hit him.
See this is why I hate cops. They abuse their power and take advantage of it. Thinking they can talk to you any kind of way and do whatever the want. Speeding, switching lanes without signaling, etc
Yet when we do these things, were fined. I feel they should abide by the law as well, especially since they are suppose to be the enforcers.

Really Texas has no forest or Mountains that's news to me.

Who cares if you have barren part of west Texas that has a mountain that no one there uses. Howevever, people in LA can actually surf and snow ski in the same day. There are snow ski resorts in California. Do you have that in Texas? NOPE

Uhhhh, you might want to investigate that 'not news' bit. There's been many from the northeast whose comment about Texas include that 'they didn't know there were so many trees'.
And for the ski resorts... Texans know where the ski resorts are and they aren't in California. The Republic of Texas sold those future ski resorts to pay its debts, unlike California who will just sell IOU's. Apparently the new current American dream is to own a piece of California without really being there made possible by all those great things about California that no one really pays for and don't really exist.
Surf and snow ski in the same day. Yeah, like that's happens a lot.

Texans got to Colorado to ski and Hawaii to surf. I don't know anyone that goes to Cali to ski or even surf for that matter.
I mean, if you're spending money to get on a plane...get ON A PLANE and make it count.

That may be so as far as Texans go, but California has skiing and surfing as well, but I'm sure you knew that. Huntington Beach isn't known as "Surf City" for nothing and you'll find delightful skiing as well, Mammoth for one. It is true; people can surf and ski in California in the same day. That's a given if you're familiar with California.

I'm a native Texan, 4th generation through all four grandparents, and I do not consider George Bush to be a "Texan from the word go" nor do I love him - quite the contrary, in fact. Laura, now, maybe - but George? Not a chance, and that has nothing to do with politics (I'm a member of the "A Pox on Both Y Your Houses" party), and everything to do with him.

Everyone has their own views about GW. According to most Texans whose posts I read, they indicate since Laura was born in Texas, she is a native because only those born in this state can claim to be Texans. People born elsewhere may become honorary Texans though. I'm laughing; are you?

I think Laura can claim to be a Texan just because she clearly is (I'm assuming she was born here but that IS an assumption, however, she's recognizably Texan). George W. just doesn't have it, I'm afraid. After all, we didn't let him have a position in this state with any real power; he had to satisfy himself with being governor.

She was born in Midland. I can't recognize her really per se as a Texan, but definitely as a southerner. I also recognize GW as a southerner. To me, he just appears quite southern in all respects.

Don't worry, MissDaisy, no bubble burst. I surmised that your politics and "morals" had something to do with it, based on your prior posts. I think
Texas may suit you well. Best wishes.
