People everywhere are obsessed with name brands and I truly believe a lot of this is due to insecurities or just simply trying to impress someone when in actuality, no one cares. It's kind of a status symbol per se and gives them a feeling of being important. Sorry, it doesn't work that way in my estimation. Many people can't exist happily if name brands aren't plastered on their clothing and accessories. Then there are the vehicles. Heaven help those who drive a plain old car or truck. It's sad.
I live in rural Texas and you'd be incredulous as what makes them happy. Even the poorer people somehow can afford the name brand things. You know, like the family driving a Caddy but checking out at the market with food stamps. Sickening.
Your accent is probably like mine, non-existent.

It's not just sad, it's STUPID! And irresponsible.

Yep...you do hear "y'all" a lot in California...in SoCal, so the NorCal/SoCal fued isn't the issue. I think deep down Californians WANT to be Texans. *lol*

Well, if you're hearing it in SoCal, there is something wrong with that place, and I'm glad I don't live there anymore.
The feud isn't a real issue ... I just <3 [heart] the vehicles which say in 100 million font lettering NorCal or SoCal. Who cares??
Anyways, since this is a Texas thread, I'll return back to one of my questions: Why the "feud" with California? I'm curious as to know where the competition began.

My thoughts exactly, although CA does have its good points. I'm glad TX doesn't have raging infernos like CA does. I don't see why there is such a rivalry. It's dumb.

I really think one reason is because TX doesn't have the forest and mountains CA has and therefore, the fires that occur take off everywhere rather than a typical brush fire would do on flat land. This year has been the worst ever for fires in CA from what I understand. So sad for sure and the rivalry........so dumb for sure.

My problem with California are all the crazy laws and liberal, apologetic attitudes that go on. I hear of more crazy things going on in their schools than I care to, and it scares me that these people will move here and start trying to implement the same crazy, goofy laws here. I'll have to go do some back research to find the stories for reference.

I think California has some of the best scenery in the world, but not sure of some of the progressive thinking. This is where it gets you:
