Cool pics! I do think most cities in West Texas are greatly underrated and I foresee a mad rush to those smaller towns (similar to San Marcos/New Braunfels) in the next decade or so due to Texas' population explosion and the level of new people moving into the state looking for wide open spaces, fresh air and good weather. Lots of land out there and lots of foreigners investing in the area now that the dollar is making it affordable for them. Germany, surprisingly, is one of the largest investors in West Texas real estate.

Whoa!! Thanks so much for the trip down memory lane!!
We went to many a movie in the old downtown Texas "walk-in" theater....and bought many a musical instrument from the old King Music store (now Tarpley Music).
It has changed so much, yet has so many of those old buildings still standing and in use today!

Great pics. What strikes me when I look at pics of various TX towns and smaller cities that are posted on here and what struck us when we visited Coprus prior to actively looking for a home in CC, is the lack of people walking about. Downtowns, parks and even the baywalk in CC have few if any people around. We love being outdoors and wonder what people do inside all day, every day.

Thanks for the memories!! I haven't been to San Angelo since 2002 or so, but I see that not much has changed!
I doubt there will be a "mad rush" of people moving to San Angelo unless some industry moves to town besides the local ISD, ASU, and the Air Force base. Most people need to have a good job to be able to live somewhere! DH and I would still live in San Angelo if we would have been able to get a decent job using our ASU degrees!

Nice job. Is that your motorcycle? It looks like a Yamaha FZ1 or FZ6, but I wouldn't swear to it. The town has at least two music stores, that's good to know. Maybe it was too hot for people to be walking around; it is here in the daytime. I've never been there, but I'd like to visit.

Come on down, Bellestar! I live here in San Angelo. Love the town. After nearly 21 years in the Navy (living in 4 countries, 4 states, and visiting almost 30 countries) I choose to retire in San Angelo. I'm only 43, got another job here, and am loving it. Lots of businesses coming in. Over the last 5 years we've had Outback, Texas Roadhouse, Best Buy, Home Depot, Academy sport, and small strip malls are popping up all over town.
I'll leave the lights on for ya!!
