That "river" isn't worthy of a mention

They do, Muhnay, but there's a ton of work to be done on it and this will take a few years. Once they get it going and once some of the completed projects are visible, it is really going to bring some excitement to Dallas.

My only regret is that by posting this, I'm letting the "secret" out.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with that. Secrets are good things. You're basically showing me stuff I've never seen before. The picture I highlighted is my favorite perspective. Beautiful area.

Do you have a favorite Texas river? Maybe you have a favorite memory or story of your time at your favorite river. Maybe you have a funny story. Share those things with us. Come on over -- the water's fine.

And if you have more pictures to share, please feel free to bring them in here with us. They're always welcome.

Amen! We devote a site just to the Frio Area. It's hard to beat the crystal clear waters, white rocks, and hills here. The population of the 3 towns that make up the Frio River Canyon (Concan, Leakey & Rio Frio) are less than 500 but thousands can fill up the popular crossings.

We live here but never get tired of it! We'll be hitting the river soon and can't wait to see what's going on.

awecelot seems to know the area well and nice to see Frio Bounders here on the board.. seems the people who been or know the Frio understand how special it is. I wish there was a section for the Hill Country on the board..

Brazos, baby!!! It's great for water-skiing or any ol' time I park my butt inside my beloved White Lightning.

Okay, so Lake Whitney's nearby, but that's beside my point.

So many choices:

Texas River Song - Lyle Lovett

We crossed the wild Pecos
We forded the Nueces
We swum the Guadalupe
And we followed the Brazos
Red River runs rusty
The Wichita clear
But down by the Brazos
I courted my dear

Singing li, li, li, le, le, le
Lend me your hand
Li, li, li, le, le, le
Lend me your hand
Li, li, li, le, le, le
Lend me your hand
There's many a river
That waters the land

Now the fair Angelina
Runs glossy and gliding
the crooked Colorado
Runs weaving and winding
The slow San Antonio
Courses and plains
But I never will walk
By the Brazos again

She kissed me and she hugged me
And she called me her dandy
The Trinity's muddy
But the Brazos quick sandy
She kissed me and she hugged me
And she called me her own
But down by the Brazos
She left me alone

Now the girls of Little River
They're plump and they're pretty
The Sabine and the Sulphur
Hold beauties a'many
The banks of the Neches
There are girls by the score
But down by the Brazos
I'll wander no more

Default Guadalupe Memories

Many years ago, I went with a church group to a place right off the Guadalupe River near Seguin. We stayed at a lake house for a couple of nights, but we had an absolute blast taking a couple of boats and several water skis and tubes while others took advantage of places to dive into the river, as well as go swimming. I would not get in river water today, but back then, it was great fun and I was amazed at how deep that river was. Thirty-five to forty college students getting together and having fun on the Guadalupe River. The weather was as perfect as it could get.
