Know of any owner operator work for Tanker or Truck drivers near New Braunfels or San Antonio or Surrounding areas?
Does anyone know of any owner operator work for tanker drivers or just truck driver (that pays well for a family) (could haul gravel, chemicals, whatever) near New Braunfels or San Antonio? Local work hopefully, or where husband can be home with family at night. Thanks, we will be new to the area and need to know of work or where to find work for a driver. If other than tanker work, please let us know also. Thanks so much.

While I do not know of any that is that close to San Antonio or New Braunsfels, finding work in the area that is limited to local runs should not be hard. The oil business is booming, and that means that plenty of drivers are in demand, both for hazmat (crude), and non-hazmat (salt water.)
I am personally in the process of getting my tanker endorsement for salt water disposal hauling. I am in commuting distance from San Antonio (one and a half hours to the south side). All the producing wells down here have been cranked up to full capacity, so loads are aplenty, and work is very steady.
Your best bet is probably just grabbing a phone book and making calls asking if they are hiring. Hope this helps.

I'll 2nd GoingHome2TX. My husband drives a truck and the first place we looked before we ended up in Hutto was New Braunfels. He said job opportunities were plentiful there. We ended up here to be closer to my sister, but this could change at some point.

Oh Thank You. Yea, my husband has hazardous endorsements and all that, has hauled chemicals, gasoline, everything. I'm glad to know there is work there cause I didn't know if living in small town would make it hard, since there is soo much here in Los Angeles area. Any other places to look? It seems here that it's almost better to find by word of mouth than the paper sometimes.

I think towns like Tyler(in the piney woods region near Dallas) and possibly some of the coastal towns and cities like Lake Jackson/Freeport, Corpus Christi areas, and South Texas like McAllan. I'm pulling areas out of my head just based on routes my husband has driven or drives. Even Dallas itself. He does some work there.
Sorry, reread your original post....You'll find plenty of work in San Antonio/New Braunfels area. My husband has done some routes South of there, towards Corpus Christi and into McAllan. Those should still be easily day trips from San Antonio. We're north of Austin, so if he has to go to McAllan, sometimes he'll stay overnight, but that's usually the longest he's away, and that doesn't really happen often. I'll see if I can snoop on my husbands online history or something. He does some of his research for jobs online.

Corpus definately has a need for local tanker (with hazmat) drivers. My neighbor hauls for one of the refineries down there. Last I talked to him, he said they were in need of more drivers.

CMTS Inc. is one site in the history. Another is UST Bulk (I think you can click on any state, he has Denver in there for some reason). I think he's just daydreaming about the mountains again
