What? A more developed downtown doesn't make Amarillo "bigger", if that's what you are basing this opinion on. Lubbock passed Amarillo in population in the 1970's and the gap is accelerating. As far as the Metropolitan area goes, Lubbock wins that race as well (2008 estimates: Amarillo MSA 243,838, Lubbock MSA 254,622). The government does not post those signs just to "put one over on people"; they didn't pull those numbers out of their behinds.

I'll give you this, though; I am a Lubbock native, and I find Amarillo to be the more aesthetically attractive city. The people in both, however, are equally good.

I don't know too much about the dental field, but Lubbock has a pretty stable economy with the second lowest unemployment rate in Texas.
