Default Flood plains in Salado, TX?

I'm getting ready to return to TX and am considering moving to Salado, about :45 north of Austin and :20 south of Temple. As I've driven around checking out the area, I found some houses around Stillhouse Lake (I think that's the right name. Just north of CR 2484?) Anyway, I drove another county road (1307?) north to check out the lake and couldn't find any flood gates on the dam. What I did see that concerned me was what looked like a flood plain that went over 1307. I've tried to locate flood maps of the area (Bell County) without success. Would anyone happen to know where I can find one?

2008 FEMA Map Revisions Revised _2_

says that Bell County TX is due to get new FEMA flood map in Sept--about the 4th page on list by date then state alpha
You could call the county commissioners or maybe the army corps of engineers
Stillhouse Hollow Lake Official Webpage
or Brazons River Authority
http://www.brazos.org/

there is also an organization called Central Texas Council of Governments--which is organization of the counties in Central TX--the one for the DFW area has great maps online that have flood plane info
but this site apparently is not as sophisticated and does not
http://www.ctcog.org/
but they might be able to give you some info...

this is the county engineer for Bell county--he should know flood maps
County Engineer
Richard Macchi, P.E.

Default Salado floodplains?

Thanks for the info loves2read, I'll check those sites out. Glad to hear they're coming out with a new flood plain map in September, also, with all the flooding last year, it'll be good to have up-to-date info before I purchase!

Default stillhouse hollow lake

Just got finished looking at some info on the Corps of Engineers website - boy am I glad! One of the houses I just looked at was an the entrance to the Union Grove Park which flooded last year. By the watermarks on the pictures they had, I doubt the flooding reached the house I was looking at, but it does encourage me to do some more research!

Thanks again love2read!
