never been to Galveston, but from the pics that have been posted here in the last year, it most definitely looks ALOT nicer than Corpus.

I wouldn't go so far to say that.

Those pix appear to be from Galveston's exclusive West End. The "nice" stops there and the reality kicks in. Then the island's east end is nice & fairly secluded, great for walking dogs & taking your Jeep for a ride. But no one will ever post many pix of the majority of Galveston. However I do think G-town has a charm all its own and like to take the 30 minute drive down there sometimes & to visit my wife @ her workplace.

BTW, come visit and some guys here will treat you like they do my wife, also blonde... grabbing themselves while they talk to you @ work, @ the store, in public, etc. I don't think that's far different from what you experienced in S TX.

Galveston has changed quite a bit. The beaches are much cleaner than they were even ten years ago. There is even a fairly active four blocks or so extending from the Strand that have live music and shows at night. Overall, I'd say it's a much safter and prettier city than it was in the past. I'd even go so far as to state that the beaches aren't any different than Corpus now. We were just at Padre last weekend and go to Galveston at least once each year. I'd move there happily and raise my daughter there with no regrets or second thoughts.

You're either loaded or have a lot of tolerance. Galveston is coming along as you said, but it is still not very middle-class-family-friendly IMO.
