Just because you can't hear the different of Dallas southerin accents vs Houston does not mean it does not exit.

Texan English contains a variety of different characteristics which are on no account universal and each Texan may speak only some of these characteristics or even none. Just as there is no single "Southern accent", there is no single "Texas accent." The drawl of the Lower South has more influence in East Texas, while the "twang" of the Upper South left a greater imprint on West Texas. In South Texas, particularly, the Spanish and Mexican characteristics are heavily combined with that of the others.[3]

But again Houston big so there many be Alabama folks and and some people from Dallas moved there too. Even in the Dallas and forth worth area there seem to be different sets of the southern accents.

What does traditional accents have to do with any thing?Look at any newscasters TV shows of 30's to 60's they talk very different. Do you think your grandparents sound any like people from the civil war.

Just because southern accent has evolved does not make it any less traditional. All accents everywhere are evolving. In 100 years from now people in Dallas ,LA and New York or most cities will sound nothing like today.

Look at any newscasters in Canada or the UK they sound nothing like the newscasters from the 30's to 60's .

Watch those old black and white movies they sound funny.

The difference is marginal with mass media homogenizing the American language.

Exactly. Show me a region where the old people talk differently than elsewhere in the country, and I'll point out that their children usually don't sound anything like them, and grew up on the same trough fed Nickelodeon/Disney/CartoonNetwork/MTV/etc. crap that kids everywhere else in the country did, from Reno to Prove to NYC to Honolulu to Wyoming. The culture has largely homogenized due to cable tv, and the internet has only exacerbated and sped up that effect. Dallas and Houston are very similar in terms of culture.

Where have you lived in the world? I guess if want to compare every little difference or feel of a certain area, then yea no two places will be the same, but Houston is a lot more like Dallas than say Boston, or Seattle, or San Francisco, and the same could be said if you compare Dallas to all those other cities and Houston. If you start to get outside the country and look at cities around the world, then Dallas and Houston look identical even more.

P.S. Just wait for that international tower to get finished with the neon glowing side that can change colors, then we'll have that in common too in our skyline.

Ok, we'll wait...wait...wait for what?

BTW, Dallas uses LED lighting. You'd think the Energy Capitol of the World would be on the forefront of lighting tech.

Lulz.. Take a look at the list of our Fourtune 500 companies and you will understand. How many supermarket chains are HQed in Bentonville?

I guess it all comes down to your perception of wether the "capital" should be where the oil is extracted, or where the companies that operate the oil and gas industries are based? Most seem to think it should be the latter. You want to rant about Houston being the medical capital of the world now, too?

And oil was discovered in Pennsylvania before Beaumont..
