I agree What surprised me in a good way about how the cities were evaluated was that both Houston and Dallas seemed to score most of their points on human capital and not economic prowess. IOW they like us, they really, really like us !

Some of you guys are taking that poll way too seriously. As a Dallas booster I will tell you it really doesn't mean nothing to me and I can assure you there are many skylines much better than Dallas. No need to get defensive.

Houston's downtown skyline circa 2018 viewed from UH's new stadium when all these under construction buildings get completed. New rendering of the Chevron building on the left, the tall building.

Taken and edited by MetroWest at HAIF

The additions to the south, east, and north parts of downtown really lengthens the skyline.

From that picture the additions on the right help fade the skyline from low to high in the center.

yep.. its getting ridiculous. just in the last few days 2 more cranes have gone up in downtown, on separate sites (609 Main and Marriott Marquis). 609 Main will end up with 3 cranes, and Marriott Marquis will add another crane or two.

A lot of the new construction in Dallas have been buildings under 30 stories. Even though it's not nothing like Houston, at least we're getting something.....

It's not going to make a huge impact on the skyline, but the added buildings will provide even more density in the core.

I hope Perot's project will be something grand *Fingers Crossed*

That rendering for Chevron is not real. It was created by a poster at HAIF.

Hopefully so. Seems like Dallas and Houston should trade places for a while so the skylines can continue improving. Houston should build a bunch of midrises around downtown and Dallas could use a couple of highrises. I know midrises don't get as much love but these are what fills all the empty lots, so the few lots that are left are forced to go higher. Eventually if space is scarce for new developments, midrises have to be knocked down to build highrises.
