Dallas pulls in more popular places because the city itself is very mainstream or flashy compared to Houston. Houston doesn't lack the higher-end stores because its demographics don't support them; its because there is many substitutes for those type of places.
If you're into "underground" designers. Tried a few of those places back in the day, and was less impressed with the quality. But of course there are numerous exceptions.

I mostly like to stick with trusted brand names. If that makes me shallow or un-organic in someone's eyes, fine with me. Doesn't change my mind about which city is the best for someone who knows their way around a clothes rack.

Again, it's not all about flashiness or luxury items in Dallas. It's about variety. That's why I say they're better. Dallas still has Houston beat when it comes to options, and that's not changing any time soon, as far as I'm concerned.

Dallas is not some leaps & bounds ahead of Houston when it comes to fashion. In fact, they're pretty similar if you ask me, with Dallas having a slight edge. Tell a New Yorker or someone from Los Angeles Dallas is a world player in fashion if you want a good laugh.

If I can't find what I'm looking for in Houston I don't need it anyways.
Don't believe I ever made mention of Dallas being a "world player", so you can quit while you're ahead. On a regional level, Dallas is the clear winner in retail, in my opinion.

For Houston I found the numbers here:

Cosulates in Houston, Texas

for DFW I made it up. But I am a good guesser so it shouldn't be too far off

Which Gucci store? There's 2 in Dallas.
Must not be doing too bad. Also, luxury retailers tend to set different hours in their leases than more common chains. Highland Park Village is working longer hours into the new leases being signed there.

And you're going to make a serious judgement on a store/mall/ cities fashion scene based on walking by a store thats closed within 30 minutes of the mall closing?

Having the largest mall in Texas would be more impressive if there were other large shopping destinations as well.

.

So what if DFW has a Barney's who cares..We can live without it. H & M is coming here at the beginning of next year. And as for shopping destinations they are all over the metro here. All those high dollar stores don't mean anything. You can still look good shopping at Macy's or Dillard's

Have anyone heard of the Stanley Korshack Department Store in Uptown. It's a very upscale department store.
