All the links I've found (such as this one) says it's by city, not metro. So yea, before you freak out over what other people can or can't read, maybe you should do some reading yourself.

Oh, and here's another one (where your version of the infographic came from), and it again states that is, in fact, citites.

The report does mention that the NYC Metro has 13% of the nation's super rich, but that is the only mention of metro areas in the news blurb. Every other data point is for cities.

I fully expect you to apologize to casimpso for your rudeness, thanks.

I dunno why he is looking for an apology, someone used the lame Houston was a bigger city comment and I told them these are not by city but by metro, and they come along with the same lame argument, and want an apology like they didn't see it the first time

In Fact for SF and DC they include the whole darn CSA.

even the links you posted said city area, but you should know by now that metro areas are synonymous with city nowadays. It is done on here everyday.
An assumption, not fact.

Houston in Blue
Fort Worth/Dallas in Red
Although Houston certainly has very wealthy neighborhoods, this data is misleading for Dallas. First off, the Dallas neighborhoods included on this list have more people than all these tiny Houston enclaves combined (around 34,000 as opposed to around 25,000) and it is harder to maintain wealth for larger areas.

Secondly, Dallas doesn't incorporate its elite areas like Houston does. Thousands of people live in Preston Hollow, a very wealthy area of Dallas, which isn't incorporated. Same goes for areas like Bluffview, Preston Hollow Estates, West Plano/Willow Bend, East Dallas estates in Lakewood, Westover hills in fort worth, etc so they are not included on this list.

I am not diminishing Houston's elite enclaves, they are quite wealthy, but this list makes it look like Dallas doesn't even compete in wealthy neighborhoods which simply is not true.

What's the point of being a millionaire if you don't know how to flaunt it? Either give it away to the poor or spend it away while looking like a star.

Since when is Preston Hollow not incorporated?

I do know that the Park Cities are not officially part of the city of Dallas but are home to extreme wealth.

lol, you are making it sound like all the rich people are in these enclaves. you are forgetting the tens of thousands who live in unincorporated areas of Houston like Cinco ranch and the woodlands or in river oaks within the city.

The data is not deceiving at all. What applies to Dallas applies to Houston and the Fact of the matter is Houston has more rich areas than Dallas. That is why we have more rich people.

City.............. Median Income
Houston ........$42,797
Dallas............$41,266

Sugarland........$99,671
Frisco.............$97,160

Pearland..........$86,350
Plano..............$82,866

Missouri City...$82,569
League City....$83,662
Atascocita......$83,662
The Woodlands $95,537

and you can't say our enclaves all add up to 25K. From the areas in Texas with median income above 90K and approaching 100,000 people there are only 4, 3 of which are in Houston. Pearland, the Woodlands and league city are at about 100,000 people each. The only one Dallas has is Frisco

They live comfortable lives, in luxurious but non gaudy houses and take extended trips to wonderful places.

You can be rich, live well, without flaunting it.

No need for really gaudy homes, excessive cars and ridiculous clothing.

Of course I'm not implying that. However, the ULTRA rich neighborhoods that would be included on this list from Dallas are not present because they aren't incorporated.

And I dont know where your source is but I generally see the average income of Houston around $37,000. Either way they are nearly identical so it doesn't matter

Frisco's is $100,868
Plano is $84,492 and it is a much larger city. It was the wealthiest city above 250,000 in the United States in 2007, whereas Pearland only has 90,000 people

Also I can pick out some random Dallas suburbs as well...
Colleyville- $148,789
Southlake- $172,945
Trophy Club- $92,492
Highland Village- $102,141
Allen- $93,392
Parker- $101,786
Westlake- $128,375
Richardson- $90,790
plus many, many more

Also, all 3 of the wealthiest counties in the state are in DFW

So your argument can go both ways. Dallas also has very wealthy suburbs as well as neighborhoods. I dont think its fair to claim that yall have "more rich people" however, because that doesn't seem true. Neither metro is too far apart but I still believe DFW has more money generally.
