It is an excellent example of bigger not always being better. The Dallas Zoo has more land area but less animals and less species than Houston San Antonio or Fort Worth.

....Zoo..........# of Animals..... # of Species.....Acres
1. Houston.......6000......................900....... ..55
2. San Antonio..3500......................750.........35
3. Fort Worth...5000.......................435.........64
4. Dallas..........1800.......................406.... ....106

Its good that Dallas Zoo has room to grow but claiming the biggest title because of their massive parking lot is shady

And BTW the Dallas Zoo website is wrong. The Dallas zoo is not the biggest in terms of land area either. That title goes to the Red Mccombs Wildlife Center. That place is over 10,000 acres, but only has 500 animals from 20 species.
The parking lot is not that big at all. On dollar days the parking lot is so packed, people start parking in the neighborhoods and around I 35E. I think they need to expand the parking lot or build a parking garage. Oh yea the Dallas Zoo was the first zoo in the state.

HA HA HA HA....I will never move to Houston. It looks weird down there, mainly because there is no zoning. If Houston had zoning it would look as good as Dallas.

LOL, Dallas is the weird plastic looking one. The lesser zoning laws here makes Houston more fun. And I bet in ten years you will be looking for a job here.
