Perhaps ownership changed for El Chico? This TexMex platter I had tastes in it that seemed somewhat unauthentic for TexMex, almost totally unauthetic for true Mexican.

Now we had a good local chain down here called Los Tios, that went downhill after Skeeters bought it out.

Yep ownership was in the family, then it was bought out then the family bought it back. Our El Fenix has stayed in the family and the original is in the former Little Mexico just north of Downtown Dallas, now the booming Uptown Dallas/Victory.

I think there is an Olive Garden in Arlington (the king of chain restaurants).

Well if it has closed I guess infact it had gotten worse.....so bad that it closed.
Thanks for the update.
Land value got too high and Six Flags thought it would be better if it just closed the park. Attendance was getting higher every year, too, so it wasn't the park.

The new park they are about to build will be a lot better because it is in the rolling topography (and heavily wooded) section of NE Houston Metro.

El Chico was founded by the Cuellar family and the Martinez family founded El Fenix.

There is one really close to me out here in Garland. Not that I frequent there as I prefer the smaller individually owned places.

What's wrong with the Olive Garden? I happen to like that place lol. Who cares if it's a chain when the cooking is tasty?

Good food is good food.
