It probably needs to cough up some dough, the other method isn't working so great.

LOL, you conveniently stopped at 10, Dallas is right after.

BTW, that's not the most polluted list, that's only for ozone. There are other lists for other kinds of air pollution and Houston isn't in the top.
Houston may not be at the very top of the other Pollution lists, but it's still on the other Pollution lists, whereas, Dallas doesn't appear to make the list at all. (That may only be importnat to me since I have a dog with severe respiratory issues. It's surely worth noting, though, for others in the same boat.)

The world's largest concentration of oil refineries & chemical plants is located just outside Houston of course the air isn't going to be as clean as Dallas'.

Dallas' air is very polluted too, just not quite as much as Houston's.

Most of the people I was meeting in Dallas in their very early 20's were already married and settled with families, wife/husband, kids, mortgage...

They didn't want to hang out and were strictly family people.

Also, the professional black people here in Dallas are very hard to meet. Dallas is very spread out and blacks are scattered. We have a very porous black community here. I went 3 years in Dallas having to drive all the way to South Dallas, about 30 miles from where I live in North Dallas just to find a black hair stylist or a black restaurant. I am still having a hard time believing how segregated this city is. On the other hand, if you have a family Dallas would be ideal. It is very orderly and very structured. Most activities are geared towards family activities. However there is still a LOT of racism in Dallas. If you are young, white and educated Dallas would be the ideal city for you. People only hear about the small percentage of blacks who are ultra successful in Dallas. Even with a college degree and experience, I have encountered a lot of hostility and white resentment here.

Most of my friends have moved to Houston and they love it. Houston apparently from what I have heard has much more to offer in activities and cultural attractions. There are a lot more black churches and young black professionals there too.

So it looks like it will be Houston for me. I can't wait to move and will be doing so in the next two months.

Great post! Sounds similar to my experience from living in Texas. As much as the DFW posters get angry for this, Houston has always been a more accepting area for blacks than the metroplex. I also found the blacks there to be a lot more worldy and educated compared to the native blacks in the DFW area as well.

Personally, for the things I care about, I find Houston quite a bit more interesting than Dallas: food, music, architecture, museums and a range of cosmopolitan intangibles. Dallas has inspired one rather tacky television series. In "Terms of Endearment" and the even better "The Evening Star," Larry McMurtry has written two extraordinary Houston novels. Are there any great Dallas novels that I am missing?

If you had to drive 30 miles to get to South Dallas, then you did not live in Dallas.

Default Houston is generally a better place

Houston is generally a better place than Dallas. I did a poll a while ago on CD and Houston won the popularity contest by a long shot.
