Dallas and Houston please stop it!!!! You guys argue and bicker way to much and put each other city down and let ATLANTA get away with murder as if Atlanta is better than Houston and Dallas. For the poster that said Atlanta had a superior highway system than Dallas you are false. Anyone that has been to Atlanta Ga will tell you ATL traffic is beyond awful. So please enlightlen me how in the *** freeway system better than DFW or Houston for that matter.

Atlanta has a more linear skyline than Dallas but the setup of the of city proper and suburbs share alot of commonalities.

Dallas Uptown = Atlanta Midtown

Highland/University Park = Buckhead/Dunwoody

Plano = Marietta

McKinney = Alpharetta

Garland/Mesquite = Norcross/Duluth

Irving = Douglasville

Duncanville = College Park

Cedar Hill = Fayetteville

Lancaster = Lithonia

I-20 = common to both Dallas and Atlanta

I-30 = I-85

I-35 = I-75

I-45 = I-16

DFW = Hartsfield

Both Dallas and Atlanta are major hubs for 2 airlines - Dallas (Southwest, American), Atlanta (Delta, Airtran).

Nice flowing and zoned developments = Dallas and Atlanta. Houston, not so much.

Both Dallas and Atlanta are land locked but have numerous lakes in the surrounding area.

Lake Texoma = Lake Lanier

The heavily forested city of Atlanta makes Houston's tree cover look meager.

Atlanta is hillier than Dallas, but South Dallas does favor South Atlanta in terms rolling to hilly terrain. Houston is flat everywhere.

Gangsta rappers: Houston = Atlanta

I just don't get the comparison to an area in a totally different part of the state.
Yep. Houston does have more trees and Dallas is more hilly. Not really up for discussion, just the way it is.

77 miles west of downtown Fort Worth. Which is nearly the same distance as downtown Houston to Huntsville.

Smile Apart from geographical differences is there anything else?

We know that Dallas is more hilly and Houston is more wooded but apart from that what would be the next biggest difference?? What about things to do?? If I've got a Saturday or Sunday off with the family what could we do in the same day?? What would be unique about one over the other??

Houston's near a beach resort town (Galveston Island).
That's probably the biggest difference.

Or from Downtown Houston to Livingston right? Yeah, I don't know anyone in Houston who really claims Lake Livingston.
