Your friends are complaining about going home alone after clubs? Maybe they are smart. To go home with someone that you just met may not be smart-security wise, health wise.
I don't go to clubs very much, but when I do, I do intentionally keep my guard up.

The attitude (or shall I say Dallitude? or whatever) is just RIDICULOUS. It really is. I thought people here were probably more humble and less stuck-up/snobby/snotty, but I was wrong for listening to the people who told me that.
I dont care if someone is confident, but they take the word confident and flaunt it so much, that its BOLD insecurity. People here hurt themselves by acting that way because they never meet anyone with that attitude. My friends are always complaining about going home alone after clubs. I tell them, well hello! stop acting like a snob! And if you're not a snob...too bad, 90% of the people are so I dont know what to tell ya!
I havent left here, but eventually once I decide I feel like moving again I so will oppurtune myself.

If one HAS to stay in a place because of a job, make the best of it--otherwise, there are numerous highways out of Texas. Pick one and go!
Life is TOO short.

That makes a lot of sense. I am ready to leave Oklahoma but I am making the very best of it as I attend school and work and I have made a lot of good friends. I even try to have fun out of the whole deal because when it is time to move to Texas, it won't be fun saying goodbye. But yeah, I agree with what you are saying, Cathy. Life really is too short. Can you believe that 2009 is right around the corner? I remembered when 2008 began, it is crazy.

I know, but Im sort of stuck here for the rest of the year...work/family etc.
1st thing Next year I'm touring out west, Nevada/Arizona. Hopefully I wont need to be as critical about it as I am here. I dont think I will need to.

Easier said than done...Im about 3 hours from the nearest border...and the states that border Texas I really wouldnt care to go to either.
Some people just end up somewhere and have to deal with it for a year or so. If I end up liking out west better, then I'll be out of here much sooner than a year

Well, time may drag for awhile, but you have a clear goal in mind. That alone will help you keep going when the end result seems so far off!!

Thank you, Cathy. Also, when I check out the "street view" on Google Maps (I usually check out the suburbs of north Dallas), I visually see myself living, working, and driving the streets of north Dallas. Never have I been so motivated in my life, it feels really good.
My automotive teacher every now and then takes pictures of me and my fellow students in class as we figure out problems on vehicles donated to the school. He says he is going to make a huge memory book type of deal with a collage of pictures within two years. I though that was such a brilliant idea. He tells me that before you know it, you will be walking across that stage with your cap and gown, receiving your degree. It will be the most anticipated moment of my life, along with moving to Dallas with an established job at a dealership.

Of course you know that you are going to have to return here and let us all know about it.... And..it will happen, or something even better.

Most definitely, I feel like I am part of the city-data family. I simply did a search on "Dallas, Texas" on google and came across this site. I will keep you all updated on when happens within the next two years. You never know, I might get a wonderful opportunity in 2009 for a BMW dealer in Dallas and get a full ride. (I am open to BMW, as well) I would jump on that in a minute. Regardless, I will work hard and make it happen with my career with Honda.

Have you guys clued into the fact that there's a housing crash in California? Or ... has this become the rag on California thread?
Because housing prices are still falling in California. That's the main expense you're complaining about ... right?
When the crash is over and if housing is still expensive ... then scream all you want but I don't see how you can make judgements when we haven't seen the bottom of this market yet.
As for the state of Texas in general ... it's cheap for a REASON.
