Yeah, I was noticing that weather played a factor for most that left Texas. Like you said, there are of course other reasons or obligations which cause us to leave Texas.
As crazy as it may sound, I am so infatuated with Texas that I do not want to visit anymore, because I will have to leave. Ever time I think about leaving Texas, those tears play peak-a-boo with my eyes. The only time I want to go to Texas is when I am physically moving there.
Guys I am sorry again. After long days of school and work, all that matters to me is how soon I can move to Texas.

Hang in there, OK? It seems like a long time now, but it will come to pass. You have too much determination for it not to!!
And....I understand your not wanting to visit and leave. I got depressed every time I went skiing...and had to leave the mountains and high elevations to come back to Midland!!
Well......I'm finally where I can see mountains every day, and if it snows, skiing is only 65 miles away.

Thank you for your encouraging post, Cathy. I know that I can do it and I know that the "year and a half mark" is almost here.

My heart has been in Texas since I first arrived in 1967, but I was a teenager and had to do what Mama said so I moved back to Georgia in 1968. I returned for college in 1970 and married in 1973. His career took us east. It has been 35 years and we have lived in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Virginia with the majority spent in Virginia.
Although I longed to return to Texas, I have chosen to make the best of every place we have lived. I was sad as we moved each time and we have been fortunate to remain friends with people we met in each place. I joke that "happiness is seeing Virginia in my rearview mirror," but I know I will miss much of that state and especially the people, too.
It is not always our choice where we live and we often have to live other places due to career, family, economy, etc. We can, however, choose to find the good where we are planted.
Autotech4Dallas, I wish you well and pray the time will go quickly until you can move to Texas. As I understand it, you'll have family and friends still in Oklahoma so don't burn bridges either.
I do count the days until we can live in Texas fulltime, but pray I live with joy in Virginia (or wherever) until that time arrives.

Texan in Virginia,
Thank you so much for this heart-warming post and you truly have filled me with lots of determination. The day I do move to Texas will be bitter-sweet because I know that I will thank myself, my family, you guys on this forum, and of course God for giving me hope to stick this out till the big day and saying my good-byes are will not be fun.
I too, also pray for you as you spend your time in Virginia as well as when you get the chance to live in Texas fulltime.
Thank you again, Lori.

I was just thinking about how Texas is almost the same weather 75--80% of the time--hot!
We run the air conidtioner down here from about April 'till around Dec. Many Christmases we've had the ac running, and usually on Thanksgiving.
Our electric bills run about $300-$400+, and that's with all the conservation, insulation etc we can do.
I'm truly sick of my "friends" in Ohio and Michigan telling me I'm full of BS when I tell them about the heat down here and our electric bills. Our electric bills are sometimes higher than our car payments, and that's doing all we can to keep the bill down!
Just like they're full of BS when they tell me how cold it is up North and how high their heating bills are! So put on a sweater!

I was feeling grumpy about my $400 electricity bills until I was doing my taxes this year and looking through old files reminded me that my electric bills in Colorado were $400+ as well. The only difference was heating costs instead of cooling costs.

A year and a half.....a mere 18 months.
It will be over before you know it!

Yeah, I have been counting down the years and the months and so far as of right now in November/2008, I have 1 year and 9 months until August/2010. Pretty soon, I will be counting the days and like you said, it will be here before I know it. Wow, it is going to be so surreal when the day comes. I think about every single day.
It amazes me how fast 2008 went. I vividly remember when the year began and what events occurred in my life each month up to now. 2009 is seriously going to haul when it arrives.
