You'll be back. Sorry you had a bad experience here.. Great thing About Texas.. is you have so much space and options here.. don't like the East side with its trees and lakes, try the west with its open deserts, don't like that try the hill country, don't like that try the coast.. and on and on.
Texas is not for everyone though, I understand that.. it takes a REAL man or WOMEN to live here, some are not up for the challenge.
About your example.. Yes the flight is Fun.. heck Falling from a plane is fun too.. its that sudden stop at the end that hurts. So there you are flying over the state of TEXAS.. enjoying it for all its worth, and then you hit the ground hard in some other place to realize you enjoyed the trip, but the ending sucked.

That explains it! When I moved away, I weighed less than 110 pounds -the required minimum for bungee jumping. I'll simply explain to my husband that I weigh enough now so he must retire!

The attitude (or shall I say Dallitude? or whatever) is just RIDICULOUS. It really is. I thought people here were probably more humble and less stuck-up/snobby/snotty, but I was wrong for listening to the people who told me that.

I know I'm coming in late, but I suspect that whoEVER told you that people in Dallas were humble and " less stuck-up/snobby/snotty" was, um, funnin' you, as we Texans, current and former, might say. That is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard, if it was spoken to you seriously and you took it seriously. Did you pay NO attention to memes such as "everything's bigger in Texas"? Dear God, competitive dressing and competitive surgical enhancement rival the Cowboys as Dallas' main sports, and Dallas is creator and home to the "$30,000 millionaire," i.e., the person who only makes that but gets the accoutrements of a much loftier lifestyle.
Look, there's a lot wrong with my native state. The politics suck, the weather's too hot, and the combination of too many guns, hot temperatures, and people who don't like to be told what to do, whether it's on the highway, in the grocery store, or anywhere else, can be lethal. But Texas is what it is...darlin' (as we Texans, current and former, might say). Love it or leave it.
Have you been to Nevada or Arizona? First, I don't know what you do for a living, but Vegas is really hurting financially right now, and I think Phoenix is too. The subprime crisis and the other crap really caused a ripple effect that's looking pretty toxic for the short term. I looked into relocating to Vegas or Phoenix a while back and while I enjoyed the notions that everybody moved there last week and no one cares who your family is or what private and Ivy League schools you attended, the timing wasn't right. Texas is that way too, and in any case that may not be important to you (in which case pretty much anything in the west east of the California coast is probably not a good fit for you). You had a bad experience in Dallas. Move on...darlin'.

oh Texans, tisk tisk....your time is coming, and its going to hurt sooooo bad. Going red again aint going to help you this time. Look who is getting the help witht he bailout...rust belt states, ironically, states that just happend to help my man Obama Become POTUS. You act like you are an independant nation (and you were once). Im thinking you might want to become one again because you are not going to fit in well with this administration. Ron Paul tried to warn you, but you didnt listen.

You mean, the states that need the help are getting it, and the state that's doing relatively well, thank you, isn't getting it? And you think this must be some sort of punishment due to politics? How very, very sad for you.

That you feel compelled to think that something that is so obviously the right thing to do (give the assistance to the states that need it, rather than the state that doesn't) MUST be because of "punishment" for how Texas voted, rather than that it's the obvious and right thing to do. It indicates a level of hatred, based on politics, of all things, that is a sad thing for someone to have to live with.
