I like snow and I dislike the heat. I also like urbanity but it is very exciting to see the Texas cities start to urbanize and densify. I do still love Texas though and am quick to stick up for it against people that has stereotypes about it. Surprisingly, many people here in the DC area has been to Texas and have many good things to say about it. But many others obviously don't.
I see why you were so ready to leave, lol. Something about that city just turns me off completely, I just absolutely hate everything about it.

After 30+ years of 4 seasons, give me summer, summer, summer, a bit cooler and I'll be a happy camper.

Sure, the leaves are pretty as the colors change, but then you have to rake every day or the lawn is destroyed.

Snow is a 4 letter word in my vocabulary and I'll be thrilled to never see another flake. It IS pretty on Christmas morning until you spend Christmas afternoon shoveling.

This sentence caught my eye as I was reading posts this morning -- what a typo! I'll be home no later than August 28 which was THREE weeks from yesterday when I posted. Today, it is 2 weeks and 6 days (and sooner if I can drive faster)!

i highly doubt that the city has rattlesnake roundups. well, maybe so, i have only been in the area for just under a year. i do have one friend rancher who lives in Killeen, but way out in Maxdale area, on the Lampasas River, and it is VERY country, so perhaps in that area.

i can see why you are saying that but i actually have seen nice areas of the town e.g. Maxdale area, Chapparal Ranch area, Ivy Mountain Gap/West Ft Hood area.
i try to avoid the city at all costs, only going there if i REALLY need something at Home Depot/Lowes etc.
however, i can find many man cities that are worse in Texas. at least Killeen is the proud home of many of our soldiers here at Ft Hood, and therefore is very military friendly and patriotic.

Jackie Black, Broker is on a distinguished road
As most Texans know, Texas is a State of Mind...

As a native Texas, I cannot imagine being anywhere else.

Where else can you get sand, both desert and ocean kind, mountains, flat lands, rolling hills, high desert, High plains, coyotes, chiggers and armadillos--all within hours of each other.

And when was the last time you went to someone's house in another state and saw all things about that state decorating their home...

only in Texas...
