DRvortec is on a distinguished road
Default What can you tell me about Austin and the medical field?

Wife-LPN "LVN" and myself (RRT student) are looking at moving into Texas. Can someone tell me maybe a small town around there (low-low crime)? Also the pay scale for our profession?

Thanks and have a great day!

Austin is the lowest paying large city in Texas for nurses.

Houston, D/FW, & even Tyler for a small city are all very good places if you're in the medical field.

Metro Matt is correct. I am an RN and i can vouch for that. However, I have found nontraditional places to make a good salary here. But also, I have alot of experience in multiple specialties, mostly trauma-Emergency Medicine, critical care, so that opens alot more opportunities.........and i also have a second job in the "best kept secret in nursing".........correctional health (prisons)
