How about "you"? It's singular and plural. You don't need an "all" or "guys" to refer to more than one person.
What grated on my nerves were my english teachers who felt the need to say "you all" instead of "y'all" to make themselves sound more educated.

Thankfully, we Texans do have the old staple of "y'all". It is beautiful in its own right, unlike the northern counterpart I had to listen to for too many years. I am sorry, but no way am I going to accept that "y'all" is improper from people who say "you guys-es" in reference to a group of individuals, not possession.
The same teacher that did one of those "y'all is not proper English and I do not want to hear it in my class" speeches to me when I was in school also told me that "ain't" is not a word. The next day I brought Mr. Webster to school and asked her to challenge his authority.
I am not sure why I got detention that day. It must have been either from asking her to challenge Webster amongst my peers (just as she had publicly chastized me for saying y'all), or asking if she was living proof that backed up the statistic that over 75% of school teachers are in the lower portion of the class they graduated from.

True, but there are plenty of people who will judge you and your intelligence in an instant based upon your vocabulary. If you choose to use words and phrases like "y'all", "youse guys", "yo", and "ain't" in some situations you are going to put yourself at a disadvantage. Just like choosing to curse, or swear for you southerners, will yield similar results.
