I haven't lived in TX since I was 19, I'm 62 now. I always say fixin to, and useless as **** on a boar hog. I miss TX so much. My Dad used to say the bee is on the wing (meaning get up and get going). I still say that, too.

My dad reminded to get out of bed by yelling "your burning daylight." Some mornings we had no sun but I knew I had to get my butt out of bed.

I use the term all the time at work.

My dad used to utter the phrase, "Well, IIIII'LLLL DEEE-CLARE..." every time something didn't go right or if he got disgusted or annoyed.

I always liked the one I learned very quickly after moving to Texas, "I'm plumb tuckered out."

Default Anyone heard of this one?

Just got to thinking of something I remember a lot of men using when I was growing up. It went something like: "He talks like a man with a paper a$$"

I always got the impression it meant someone who didn't make good sense, or something similar. I don't know if it had any special connection to Texas, but it was one that always stuck out a bit.

Any of y'all remember it...or know exactly where it comes from or what it means?

I hear that one very often, except when I say it, I don't use plumb.

Don't ask me why.

I started laughing when I visualized that. And my husband says the "fidna" when he's about to do something. He does it on purpose though, it's not just something he does naturally.
