Why I like Plainview Texas,your take? (Lubbock, Amarillo: job, health)

I like Plainview because I grew up their and have many fine memories of the place.Planiview became famous or was it already thanks to Jimmy Dean.the movie Leap of Faith was filmed some their.I think plainview sits just right where it is not far from Amarillo or Lubbock.we used to get are local tv stations from either direction by moving the outdoor antenna.It would be interesting to see how many people here are even aware of my hometown.

i know that Plainview is home to Formby State Jail, a TDCJ unit...that's about all. i work with someone who used to live there and work at Formby. i have heard it's a nice town. would love to visit someday!

My job takes me to Plainview once a week. Plainview has a decent selection of restaurants, a 6 screen theatre, a Hastings bookstore, a Super Walmart, excellent healthcare for a city it's size, some nice neighborhoods, a very nice downtown, a small university, and plenty of employment opportunities such as a Walmart distribution center. Some nice parks and a busy YMCA too. Not the most beautiful town but not ugly either. Has more of a winter than I like but overall a nice lifestyle and a very friendly place.

I spent a week there one day...just kidding. I like it well enough. It does have nice restaurants. I think I ate at Furr's Cafeteria there. I'll visit Plainview again, no doubt.

Yep Furrs cafeteria their has been around for the longest time.Plainview had a Jimmy dean plant yrs. ago their its been taken over by others.I even worked their when it was processing other foods.Excel has also been their processing beef for yrs.the granada theater on broadway which is closed now was something else in its day.plainview even had two outdoor movie theaters in the early 70's where pizza hut and another business is now.on Olton rd.

We always stopped at the Furrs in Plainview on our trips between Amarillo and Lubbock. I have friends who live outside of Olton and go to Plainview on a regular basis. Nice town.

They used to have a wonderful pizza inn on olton road across the street from where hastings is now.the Cotton patch is a good place to eat to and when I'm in town I like going to El Jalisco's near the walmart super ctr. for their barbacoa!! yum!!seems to me Plainview is growing to the south west thanks to I-27.

I spent nearly every summer in Plainview when I was a kid. My brother and I stayed with our aunt and uncle at 1001 Wayland Street near Wayland Baptist University (Wayland College then) and our other aunt and uncle at 909 Zephyr. My aunt, Fay Chapman, owned the Lady Fair Beauty Salon at the corner of Zephyr and 10th. My uncle, Forest Chapman, owned the Florsheim Shoe Store on Utica across from Wayland. My aunt and uncle on Wayland were Mike and O'Dell Cross. I had other relatives in town and still have relatives there. Those four, however, are no longer alive. My brother and I have great memories of our summers in Plainview. We loved it there.

Suddenly, I am not sure if Uncle Forest's shoe store was on Utica or Quincy. I am now thinking it was Quincy. It was a long time ago!
